Project: Children’s Picture Book – Spider Hair

I have written and illustrated a children’s picture book called Spider Hair. It’s about a small boy called Bear, whose hair is not growing fast enough, so he goes on a journey to persuade the animals in his household to be his hair. It’s partly based on my experience of cradle cap as a toddler. My hair didn’t grow quickly, so I used our pet cat, William, as a wig. Spider Hair is also also inspired by my brother’s grand daughter, who giggles when grandad puts his long long beard over her head!
I have really enjoyed the book design process and plan to make more, involving Bear and introducing some new folk too.
